This Saturday was our Chinese Society's 66th Anniversary.

I started out doing Kung Fu there about 15 years ago...It is in Chinatown right across from the Sun Yat Sen Center.
I've been doing Lion Dancing for the Society for Chinese New Years many years. Back then when the white man bought over the Chinese ppl to work as slaves and for the railroad and if you were not in a society...or a gang that took care of it's own ppl it's pretty hard to survive.

The people in the society taught each other martial arts to protect themselves, later more and more societies have formed doing the same.

Rumor has it the Yue Shan Society is just a fancy name for a Chinese Gang...most of then now are just old farts still hang around at Yue Shan read news paper or play Big2 or MJ and most of their kids are all educated doing normal work, so the gang thing slowly faded away.
